It's too soon to declare that MS is scamming the world. When/if we see 4-10 year old PCs running Android apps satisfactorily and see what the features that require TPM 2.0 are, we can make a judgement.about the system requirements being forced on OEMs.
LOL, everyone applies about 1000 tweaks to each version of Windows, but then complains about insider builds of a new OS, forgetting how many tweaks and utilities like start menu they install on their current OS In other words, it will be fine.
Lets be honest, at some stage you need to let your PC go. It might have been state of art one day in a distant past (or maybe it never been even close to it) But if it is old, it is old. Nothing will make it new again, just replace it and stop complaining!
If microsoft really decided to keep this requirements for running windows 11, you can still use windows 10. It will have security updates for a good amount of years and probably they will also have an extended support after 2025. You think you might be missing any feature? 3rd parties will for sure port windows 11 features to older OS's in no time. If Windows 11 is not compatible, just don't use it. It's just an operating system, the apps are still the same
Right now assisting in doing a Win11 install on my friend's old system (Intel Prescott). It is technically a 64-bit CPU but my friend can't install any 64-bit OS nor install 64-bit VMs. I had him check some BIOS settings for the latter but no luck. So he's trying live install of Win11 now (I made an unattended image) but the twist is, his system can install 64-bit Win7 but only when it has x86 boot.wim. So I did a mod with Win10 32-bit boot files and Win11 install.esd. We'll see if it works It did in VM on my side and it works great but his system is weird so we'll see. I'll update this post if it works
Too complicate, just deploy it with dism, imagex, or (easier) "WinNTSetup" Even easier to install it on a vhdx elsewhere then copy the vhdx to the intended machine and use it as a native vhdx. The old school Setup nowdays should be used just for in place upgrades, not for fresh installations
Why should they? Anyway, I have the best solution. Don't go near this trash in the first place Simple, it really is that easy
Actually very easy, just switch out the files, leave everything else intact like autounattend.xml and tweaks.
Running reasonably well on an old HP with an AMD Athlon II X2 Dual-core 240 2.8GHz Processor and 4 Gb RAM And on another oldie with an i5-2410 2.3GHz Processor and 8 Gb RAM The 2nd system is faster than ever
Cpus haven't advanced much and tpm is garbage + literally illegal in Russia/China. UEFI sucks and secure boot sucks more. MS can and should jump in a lake, I'd sooner quit gaming and go back to Arch. I have a supermicro board, tpm is $45... N o p e
Can you run Windows 11 on your old system? Indeed my system is :-Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz and 8gigs of ram. I just updated Public win 10 with the Russian ver of win 11. I'm assuming when the fast insiders get updates I can update mine also.
