    Hello.

So I have this old laptop with Windows 2000 which I would like to install updates on. However, I cannot access Windows Update. When I go to update.microsoft.com in IE (tested in both IE5 and IE6 SP1) it goes through a go.microsoft.com address, and IE cannot open that page. It results in a DNS error. I cannot open other such links (like the MGADiag download) in IE either, but they work on Firefox. I can access other sites, so it's probably not a network issue. I tried flushing the DNS cache and looking up go.microsoft.com manually, but neither solved my problem. Any ideas?

    Read again,
Personally I use RyanVM Integrator for adding packs to XP.

Don't know but probably take longer in the long run thought you only installed win 2000 yesterday.

Yes, I did install it yesterday, but I'd rather update an installed system than reinstall Windows with updates slipstreamed.... That's why I created this thread - to figure out why I can't access Windows Update.

Well, you need to install the latest WindowsUpdateAgent to be able to access Windows Update. Get it here:

    hxxp://download.windowsupdate.com/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/7.6.7600.320/WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6-x86.exe

Then use 7-zip to extract a file named WUA-Downlevel.exe from inside it and install the file you extracted, which is the correct one for XP and 2k. Good luck!
