I 'm having trouble to install this scanner on Linuxmint 17.3 Cinnamon. First of all when i plug-it nothing is detected (printers and others have no problem). Tried , xsane, vuescan (Hamrick software), nothing. ?????? windsman.
I had a Canoscan LIDE 130 a while ago. I remember that it was sensitive to USB power. I couldn't get it to work on my laptop without a powered USB hub. Have you tried it on Windows?
Yes, i use it on Windows without problem. windsman. Up: I've just try right now with a powered usb hub with no luck.
Unfortunately it doesn't work on two machines with linux system, one installed in Uefi and one legacy. I guess there is something with the Ac-power, which this lide 120 doesn't have it on board, just one usb 2.0 cable. I will try to install the Lide 20 scanner instead(have one in stock), this one is powered. Meanwhile, i will continue searching and post here if i found a solution. Thanks John and MJ for your support. windsman.
I give props to the folks who write Linux drivers. They almost never get paid, and their only thanks is seeing people happy. In this money driven world, there's a lot to be said for that mindset.
If it doesn't work under Linux running natively, only when running in a VM on a windows machine... Is it possible the driver/software is downloading the firmware to the device each time? I have seen this behaviour on some professional and industrial equipment: Saleae Logic 8 (and USBee) - Software looks for the VID/PID and then downloads the firmware into RAM over the USB 2.0 connection. MicroCraft EMMA Probe Machines - Every time the equipment is turned on, the HEX file gets uploaded over USB (takes almost a minute). Seems to be Intellectual Property protection of sorts...
YEAH, long time but now it worked even for the lide 220 : 1-Unplugged scanner 2-Open terminal in root mode 3- execute this sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rolfbensch/sane-git sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gocr libusb-dev libsane-dev libsane-extras xsane-common xsane sudo usermod -a -G scanner 4-Plug your scanner. That's it windsman.
