I bought the OEm XP SP2 Home CD from new egg a while back. I installed it on my main rig, it crashed once in 3 years so I installed it again. Now it crashed again and I want to install an activate one last time for a Win 7 upgrade.

Now the problem is I want to use this OEM CD to install on an old laptop. I don't think I can activate 3 time so I downloaded the GenuineXP.rar from a post here. This allows me to get updates but I keep getting an error message on trying to install SP3.

This laptop will not be connected to the internet and just used as a music server so I don't know that SP3 is important to have or not?

Any ideas on what to do ?

I have activated my xp pro at least 10 times and havnt had a problem, when it prompts you to activate select the internet option and follow the prompts, service pack 3 did cause a lot of driver conflict problems on older pcs so you probably might be better off just running sp2.

Thanks. Was that the OEM XP Pro, I heard that the OEM is only good for 3 activations?

I actually got SP3 to install by using WGAValidation1.9.40.0v3x86 from this site.
