I have a PC that was working fine 3 weeks ago and havent used it since. I turned it on the other day to use it. It booted up, got to the 4 blue boxes for windows and expected to load my desktop but it didnt. I tried using gparted live and then install windows 8 again, saw the 4 blue boxes again and loaded devices and then no desktop again. What could be causing this?

    Plz let me know.

    thx

Are you tried to go in Metro Menu and start ''sfc /scannow'' (without quotes) in Command Prompt?

Try to boot from Windows install media and perform startup repair.

Any other graphics card ports to test :g:? Windows sometimes confuses them.

Should I just use my integrated graphics card to see if it works and not use my installed graphics card for my hdmi connection for my tv?

Guys, I just noticed i have my sata data cable that is hooked up to my hard drive and dvd-rw player connected to my mobo. Also, I noticed another sata power cable hooked up from my mobo to my dvd-rw player but there is nothing from mobo to HD. Do all I need to do is hook up a sata power cable from mobo to HD and my problem will be solved or might this screw up my mobo? Plz let me know.

    thx

Shut down PC, unplug the power cable then hook the HDD up to mobo (data and power). Initialize system and test.

Try to remove hard drive from your computer and test it on other computer.

If there are problems, so your OS is broken and you need to re-install or you installed a pirated version of Windows 8 (or 8.1, which one you use).

If there aren't problems, then there's a problem in your hardware.

Don't have another PC that is easily accessible so I can't. Tried 2 versions of 8 and 2 versions of 8.1.

I tried using 2 different HD's. 2 different dvd players, 1 integrated video card and 1 I installed. I have tried windows 8 and 8.1 but cant seem to get to my desktop. Can someone plz help.

    thx

Are you tried to install Windows 8.1 with Update 1 ? After installation, you should automatically go to desktop, not in the Metro Menu.

Did you make sure all devices are connected properly (should be always the first test) :g:? If you are unsure provide a photo.

BTW: SATA devices are connected to MB with a data cable and to PS with a power plug.

Used gparted to delete and add a partition for win 7. Everything loaded fine. Rebooted win 7 and could not get onto my desktop. For the heck of it i loaded pc into safe mode with internet access and it worked fine.

Why is safe mode I can reach my desktop but not in normal mode. Any ideas?

    thx

For some reason, your computer ''doesn't want'' to load your desktop. I don't know how, but it's very close this is the hardware problem.
