Hello forum, I'm trying to install Win8.1. After a clean install I go to update windows. But when it begins to update the KB2919355, my laptop just freezes, showing Disk usage 100% for 30 minutes. I have tried reinstall windows, installing the downloaded package, using microsoft autoupdate fixit. Still, it just gets stuck there, once I let it hang there then after 40 minutes it says error. Any clue?
Sorry,my case is diferent but referent kb 2919355...I have an iso with the update 1 downloaded from MSDN Magnetic Paul's Jukebox, iso EMBEDDED ENTERPRISE 64X, but when installing the system here in the pc WU ACCUSES A KB2919355 with 129 MB .... WHY?
Thank you very much. I'm not familiar with this. But after integrate the patch, next time when I install with this ISO it is a newer KB patched version right? In the mean time, should I use a repair/upgrade install to fix my issue? Or I start a whole new reinstall? Another quick question maybe unrelated to op: I have a Win 8.1 copy that's shipped with my laptop. In fact the one I'm trying to install is another copy into the virtual machine under my linux OS. Is there a way that I use the license or copy of the windows shipped with my laptop? To put it simple, make another windows install into the virtual machine using the shipped windows 8.1 on my laptop. Does that violet M$ EULA? p.s. oh yes, I just read this news this morning. hothardware.com/News/Windows-81-Update-Crippling-PCs-With-BSOD-Microsoft-Suggests-You-Roll-Back/
Yes, next time you will install from ISO, you will have already patched version. The new clean installation is recommended. So delete current OS. (You told it is new/fresh installation anyway.) I am definitely NOT specialist on activation/licenses, but W8-x OEM license is bound to BIOS or EFI (MSDM table). It is called OA v3-0. VMware has its virtual BIOS stored in the binary file on the HDD (vmware-vmx.exe in VMware under Windows OS). Unless this file is edited to include MSDM table information from your real PC, the OEM license can't be used. Also MS of course doesn't want to use its licenses anywhere else.
I see your point, Update 1 (KB2919355) isn't COMPLETELLY integrated (as full update) on ISOs_with_update_1. Even MS says so (on KB2919355 page). For example, when you add another language or system feature, KB2919355 offers to reinstall, because it is missing its MUI or another files. For that reason I (on my bilingual system) ALWAYS integrate whole KB2919355 pack EVEN to ISO_with_update.
