I don't think the required files are missing or corrupt. They are inplace and healthy because I compared both ISO and extracted web install package and both were binary equal. What is strange is this kind of error give me all office family products I tried to install. Actually I don't understand the message as it 's not true.
I was going to test the 2010 with KMS and I also got message saying it's not update-able or something and I uninstalled my 2007 first so I just put my 2007 back Note: I did have the beta and was using Hazar's beta fix which got rid of nags but left message on title bar. Anyway I uninstalled that then my 2007 So why can't I put 2010 on my comp? Is there a batch file I can run to reset registry or something? Thanks
There is the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility - support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. It is intended to clean up borked installs / uninstalls. Its the only thing I know of. Sorry, can't hotlink cause I haven't got enough posts.
I used to get that type of error with Office 2007 installs running from extracted files too. It was also random - sometimes it would happen (mostly) but sometimes not - wierd. I now use either UltraISO or Virtual CD - using their virtual drive functions which are a must have in my opinion - and mount the ISO images and run as if from a DVD and haven't had the issue in that scenario. Must admit I haven't tried the update though and from your post I won't either.
It is the same, randomness. I don't get same missing file in two consecutive setup attempts, ie. it always initially "misses" different file from Office.en-us.
Your missing the following: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Features\*F01FEC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\*F01FEC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\UpgradeCodes\*F01FEC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Win32Assemblies\*Office14* Then when you try to uninstall it through the control panel it will say it was already uninstalled... Then I reinstall it that way but I haven't done that in a while... Worked like a charm thou...
Ok so I did what sam said and like 3-4 2010 things were left in windows 7 manager/smart installer. Their were like 10 before sams suggestion So I'm uninstalling the other ones in 7 manger and will get back
OMG guys between the two of you I am not getting that message right now I used to windows 7 manager to delete all signs of 2010 then deleted those keys and files and now it's installing Thank you so much guys Will be back and tell you the results...lol
Timesurfer you can delete those additional reg keys as Smorgan said but personally I did not have to, to fix my issue. I just removed what I said and I got it to reinstall. I found that out on my own though, no help at all
Well I'm deff not as experienced as you guys in 2010 so thanks to both of you Preparing to enter my MAK key soon By the way it is pro plus So what the hecks the diff with all these verisons
I don't know exactly but I do know that Pro Plus has like 2 more programs in it that Pro lacked so I am guessing it it just how many programs come in each pack. That is good to here that you got it fixed though. I was so pissed when I had install errors that I almost reinstalled win7 but I remembered that in most cases you can manually uninstall anything by deleting the program files and reg keys. It is really that simple, then the setup thinks you never had the program installed. It is actually amazing what you can do with the registry once you learn more about it lol
Ok it said had error at end of installation so I'll try again. Should I reboot again, etc... Anyone bueller, bueller Edit: The Mak key gifter said I had to use Office toolkit?
