    Hi,
i had trouble using Win7 Loader so Daz told me to do a Repair Install, problem is, i can't do a Repair install because i need Win7 SP1, but when trying to install Win7 SP1 i get an error sating that i'm missing required system componment.
I don't know what to do, is there a way to force SP1 install ? or to force Repair Install ?

    Thanks

Repair installs often fail, especially with system that is hopelessly monkeyed with, or has been previously upgraded rather than installed clean. You can do a reinstall windows to the existing drive without reformatting. Your existing windows and user files will be copied to a windows.old folder, thus no data loss, but you will need to reinstall whatever applications you use.

Look at the OP's previous posts in the loader thread. A clean install and get on with life could be the best option. A lot of time being wasted otherwise :)

SP1 Fail to install i don't know why (Missing package or componment).
    I have a Dell XPS L702X.

I don't have any data backed up that's why i do a repair install and not a clean install :/
I'm gonna look for Easy Transfer.

As i can't activate it w$ now says it's not genuine and i can't do any update but i do have these update available:
    "KB2570947
    KB2660649
    KB979309
    KB890830"

It seems to be only minor updates

i Have AVAST! i'm gonna try again after disabling it even if i don't think it's linked to the error.

I don't have any malware (Checked Running process, hidden process, Services, drivers, boot etc ...)

I never had any malware as far as i know. I'm doing the HitmanPro scan and RogueKiller is waiting.

I'll post/edit as soon as it's over, thanks for the answer ! :)

When i got the comp i wiped everything on it including the recovery partition because i was supposed to be able to download it from dell website ... but i actually can't, it wont let me ...
I don't have any Dell related material apart from the drivers installer that i saved to my external HDD.

For virus scan, only HitmanPro detected something ... actually it detecte more than 5000 "threats" ... These threats being codes i made u_u.

    So no Threats /:

I'm going to reboot and try again repair install ... i'm pretty sure it wont work but ... who knoes ... i'm desperate ...

u can try findandmount to recover the partition data to iso.. but what for?. fresh install is best.

but if u must insist.. try running combofix and adwcleaner from bleepingcomputer .. its helped me before with stuck updates due to permissions change from prior malware.
then run SFC /scannow and after restart try updates again.

While I agree that formatting is best, I have reinstalled many times without reformatting, and then copied the stuff I need back out of the windows.old folder when the reinstall has finished.

Ooook, so i backed up everything, saved all my drivers on my External HDD ... And booted on Windows (USB) iso.
I choosed to install it on top of the current windows, and it took the key exactly 4min30 to install everything...
Actually it took 4min30 for "uncompressing" (or smth like that) everything else took 0 second (System File Copy/ Installation / Update ) ... Wierd (?)
Then it said "Installation is over need to reboot", and on reboot ... White underscore ... Nothing else.
I rebooted manually after 4min and choosed to boot on my "First HDD" (it actually booted on the "Second HDD" 0_o) and Grub shows and ask me as usual to choose between W$ and Linux ... And when choosing W$ it boot normaly, as if nothing changed ...

    I did it twice, same result ... isn't w$ supposed to overwrite grub ? What's happening ? I'm completly lost ...

EDIT: I'm stupid i installed it on the wrong HardDrive u_u ... my bad xD

sounds like hdd failing or ram connector issue.

fresh install in new hdd i bet fixes it if its not ram

i also see u use grub as bootloader.. ive had isues with win7 and sleep until i switched to windows bootloader,, with easybcd 2.2 add grub2
