Certifications and 2.1 SLICs

    Are we are still waiting for leaked/proper certs to use with the 2.1 SLICs from the OEM manufacturers? From my understanding all the modded 2.1 SLICS are still using certs from Vista. Is that correct?

    Acer and Alienware are using new certificates for new SLIC's, issued in 2009 and different from those they already had. Non- the-less, the version of these certs is set as 2.0, and according to all rumors, Dell, Lenovo, HP, etc will use the same certs in Windows 7 pre-installed machines, that they used for Vista.

    When will we find out if they are actually the same? October or maybe November?

    FYI, my theory

    Manufacturers that use the same OEMID / OEMTABLEID for all their models need to use updated certificates, for example : Acer, Alienware, Gigabyte, LG, Medion and Samsung use the same OEMID/OEMTABLEID on all their models, for some we have the new Certs, for others the 2.1 compatible certs are still missing.

    Could my theory be right?

    Yes but MSI, Founder and Fujitsu seem to ruin it.

    Yep you are right, overlooked those... Ok so i guess no definite explanation can be given why some need new certificates?
