    Hey Windows 8 lovers,

to change the "uggly guy" on "CTRL + ALT + DEL
you have to change the picture "1033" of the ressource "IMAGE/1001" in the file "authext.dll"
Your Image has to be a 1280x1024 .jpg

    Teh result:
    img6.imagebanana.com/img/f27pg77a/DSCN0484.JPG

    Download:
You can use my modified authext.dll with the Windows 8 Beta Login Screen like on the Screenshot:
    filebeam.com/c9ffffea757da415bad8602dd309ca2b

for manual replace you can use the "Reshacker" to change it.
Just delete the 1001 Ressource, then add a new one, choose your picture and name it: "IMAGE, 1001, 1033"

To implement this to any xPills here you can use the "Reshacker" with parameters:
    reshack.exe -add exefile,savasexefile,resourcefile,ressourcemask
    reshack.exe -addskip exefile,savasexefile,resourcefile,ressourcemask
    reshack.exe -addoverwrite exefile,savasexefile,resourcefile,ressourcemask
    reshack.exe -modify exefile,savasexefile,resourcefile,ressourcemask
    reshack.exe -extract exefile,savasexefile,resourcefile,ressourcemask
    reshack.exe -delete exefile,savasexefile,resourcefile,ressourcemask
or write your own ressource changer if you can.

    PLEASE:
Can somebody check if this affect systemsettings menu or genuinecenter functionality?

    Mfg Takeo

all the pills posted here don't work without problems. Better to manually patch all files for your needs by yourself or use pre-patched .dll and copy them by yourself in system32.
If you use the files and registry settings from "Findings-in-M3-Leak-listed-NO-QUESTIONS-HERE-PLEASE!" and then use my "authext.dll", all should work fine (tested on 3 installations, found no problems).

Are you able to change the lock image too? As if you switch users without CTRL+ALT+DELETE it's just the Plain Blue screen still

Nope, not for me anyways. I like the blank blue lock screen, using the beta fish wallpaper so it all matches.

    hmm =\
ok. might be a bit off topic but what would one have to do in order to change the beta fish log on wallpaper? I'm very much into customizing the latest. even we're still getting things to work.

I mean that before log on and after log off the screen does indeed change. But when said user is logged in and one locks the computer the lock screen does not change. same with switching users.

It does exactly what it says it does; changes the login screen not the lock screen. No more no less.

Yes you're right. Next step is to figure out why is doesn't change and how to remedy that.
(i was only clarifying my previous post, not insisting on an answer btw)

It does seem to apply the wallpaper to the switch user screen, so that's even one better than what I expected.

Whats the path or where is the lock screen img located? there might be two services accessing the file or the same service for some reason isnt recognizing the file.

Found the path its on authext.dll

now is there any way of knowing what services access authext.dll ????

    Better question (noob question)
what is the main service that accesses that file?

Ok now we need to find out how to change the Blue Background on Lock Screen.
PluePill says it can change it but it don't show any effect. (or does "SetLogonBackground=1″ on the .theme file work for you?)
