I have a Acer aspire One Mini laptop.I put windows 8 on it and it works great..But I just ran into a problem in the start menu when I click any metro apps it says that I need to use 1024x 800. The laptop only has a 10.1" screen size and a top res of 1024x600.. Is there any way to trick the metro menu to think its 1024x786 or a tweak in windows 8 to bypass it? TY for you time

type regedit on startscreen, search for Display1_DownScalingSupported & change its value from 0 to 1 & restart your pc....after rebooting change resolution :D

I have the same machine. Downscaling works, but it is such a pain in the eye that I went back to Win7.
Another annoyance was that the Acer power management did not work in Win8 and the lappie went damn hot.
Win7 is cool & better for batteries and lifetime.

I updated the bios (it was like 5 bios behind) and changed a few setting under power management in windows 8 and now the fan speeds up like its suppose to instead of turning the cpu down. Another thing I noticed is when playing you tube videos at a low res of 480 ,it didnt get hot at all.But when I put a BD rip movie on it and played it did get hot even with the cpu fan speeding up.The movie ran fine but its for a big tv not a 10.1" screen. So any movie I play I will have to encode them to a smaller res just like I have to do with my Ipod Nano.. Is there anything else you think about the computer?Ive only had it a day and programmed it? shipping to my mom it 2 days
