If you had read this thread you would know which one is the right one. This board you will find if, you hang around long enough, very much encourage people to do some reading themselves. So have a read and you will know exactly which one is right, and also why the wrong one has shown it's ugly face.
Just a quick Google on sha1 will show you that the second one is total ****** You are after Windows XP Tablet PC Edition CD1 (English) - VL EN_WINXP_Tablet_VL_CD1.iso 2002-11-12 then The search of the board here does NOT help with searches for SHA1, as it will always give: The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search: sebus
Thanks! @LateShift Thanks for your advice. I will make it a point to go through all the relevant threads before making another query. @sebus Thanks for your help. I found the file mentioned in TechNet (size: 561,627,136 bytes). However, my attempts to find a working download source for this ISO were in vain. Anyway, I will revert back after going through the enormous content available in this board. Hope to successfully complete my ISO collection.
Thanks a lot! @LateShift Thanks to your XP Archive thread, I successfully converted a XP SP3 Retail ISO into a VLK ISO. en_winxp_pro_with_sp1a is indeed the retail version! The SHA-1 for the unpacked file is: F11F8615131D2D50CF1D7494BC56E133725B28D4 Correct me if I'm wrong: From what I've learnt so far, I guess I'll need delta files for the different versions of SP1a (VLK & OEM especially!). I think I will be able to create the required ISOs using them. Too bad that MS has yanked off all win XP SP1 (as opposed to SP1a) ISOs from it's MSDN program. Would be great to get hold of at least one untouched version of SP1 to create the remaining versions.
I am sorry, but why that is bad? C**p piece of software, with plenty of bugs, that was replaced very quickly with 1a version I would consider it being very good move by M$ (in fact they should remove everything that is not current IMHO) sebus
I don't use SP1. I needed it badly only because it was missing in my collection. But I have many machines with SP1a (with Update Rollup 1) which are used in a lab for network penetration testing.
While running around in that lap, if you come across some Dell XP Pro SP0, SP1 & Dell XP Home SP0, please let me know.
Sorry to disappoint you. Dell did not exist as a vendor in our market at the time of the lab's inception. We only have 8 machines using licensed XP Pro OEM SP0 CDs slipstreamed with SP1a & Update Rollup 1. Official policy prohibits violating licensing agreements of software vendors. For example MS' licensing agreement proscribes unapproved alteration/modification of DLL files in an OS installation. This is significant in a pen testing environment because of limitations imposed on the number of concurrent outgoing TCP connections from XP SP2 onwards. So unofficial workarounds like lvllord.de's EventID 4226 Patcher Version 2.23d (the most well-known example) are out of the question. Till the machines are officially replaced, we have to make do with SP1a + Update Rollup 1. Of course the majority of machines (24 out of 32) & all future replacements are run exclusively on linux for this very reason.
Yes, I understand it, but it is kind of "odd" to run security tests from OS that is inherently un-secure itself... Almost like testing car safety on a track that has known safety problems sebus
I downloaded the following win XP ISOs recently. Will be grateful if anybody can tell me if any one of them is tampered with. Note: I have g00gled & searched this forum, but the results did not seem to tally/be conclusive. 1) win XP 64-Bit Edition Version 2003 (for Intel Itanium 2-IA 64) Retail Size: 525,461,504 bytes (501.12 MB) Label: NRMPIFPP_EN SHA-1: DEFC235255C9B92792199E0001ABDB755E463C0C 2) win XP Professional SP2a OEM Size: 607,252,480 bytes (579.12 MB) Label: VRMPOEM_EN SHA-1: 7F85CBB614CFB1E483342A206ECD663468643A2D 3) win XP Professional x64 SP1 Retail Size: 614,168,576 bytes (585.72 MB) Label: AX2PXFPP_EN SHA-1: 8E914F652DFF0AA8FD16F41B583817C7E107BBA5 4) win XP Professional x64 SP2 OEM Size: 628,310,016 bytes (599.2 MB) Label: CRMPXOEM_EN SHA-1: 402CF4C7AA1EC80938C0A82AE79F2E154FDDE728 Thanks a lot for your inputs.
