To use Microsoft Games from Windows 7 in Windows 8

Open the game exe in a hex editor search these bytes
change 7D* to EB. For Solitaire copy CardGames.dll from
    system32 folder.

    7D* 04 83 65 FC 00 33 C0 83 7D FC 01 0F 94 C0

    well, thank you, nawzil..

not so much for the w8 version, but for reminding me it is/was
part of windose, since the vista days.. i had not played it since i
formatted vista out of my life, and went back to xp, about a year ago..

and what do you know? it was already installed on my new w7 machine..
played it only once, so far..at maximum strenght.

first impression; it plays an even weaker game than in vista,
and i have not found a way to save the games yet, which
was possible in vista..[ rough elo rating estimate= ~1500.]

but it is nice to know that i have casual chess game around,
that i was not aware that i had..

    thanks man..

    edit,
the game can still be saved..
quit game one move before you checkmate..
search for chess in explorer and you will find the
save game..open with notepad and on the last line
you will find all the moves..lot of trouble, but it works..

for more serious chess, download winboard..
