Just caught your RSS feed and installed immediately. I can't thank you enough for this. Myself, like many others, are thankful for many of the different software which you have written. I wish you all the best in the new year, sir!
Thank you very much for these kind words. All the best in the new year to you too. And to everyone in this forum
A couple of questions: Does this mean the app is portable? If it is portable, why is uninstallation not by just deleting its folder?
As I wrote in the first post, the only work for installer is to find which MUI files are required and put them properly. The uninstaller does the opposite - removes those files. Also, I added just now a change - now it creates an alias for the Run dialog. You can press win+r and type "stikynot" in the run box. The sticky notes app will be started. So, +1 record in Registry, which will be deleted by uninstaller. That's it.
Unfortunately, I am not able to name the shortcut using the local language. I can read the installed MUI file, load the app title resource, for example "plak notities". But anyway, I won;t be able to find the "classic" word portion. So it will become "Plak notities(classic)". It looks not good. Let it be in English.
I really appreciate this. I was playing with the Windows 10 sticky notes and had an problem with it I couldn't solve; for some reason after just posting a 'post-it' (without typing yet) there was no way to delete it or otherwise get rid of it. Re-booting did not help--it just remained there on my desktop not matter what I did. Believe it or not, my only solution after trying several things and even researching it was to restore a backup I did earlier that day! With your download, it's easy to just delete the note by closing it in the upper right. If anyone knows how to work with the Windows 10 sticky notes to avoid or solve the problem I had, please let me know.
Hi, it appears Classic Sticky Notes don't run anymore on Windows 10 1809. Maybe a tip to run it again ? Thank you
Hi, to run again Classic Sticky Notes, copy from windows.old/WINDOWS/System32/dui70.dll in the same folder of your .exe Hope this help.
Thank you so much, @bobbynetteuh. Your solution worked 100%, problem solved! So the dui70.dll from 1809 does not seem to like the older Classic Sticky Notes and causes the crash. Therefore, following your suggestion, I grabbed an older version of dui70.dll by extracting it from an ISO from 1709 (Win10_1709_English_x64.iso) that I had laying around. @hb860 Can you re-package your ClassicStickyNotes-1.0-setup.exe installer to include the dui70.dll from 1709? I don't know if your ClassicStickyNotes-1.0-setup.exe package contains both 64-bit and 32-bit binaries or not, but if so, you would then need dui70.dll in both x64/x86 binaries. @bobbynetteuh, you saved the day, sir!
