Bought a new Asus laptop off Amazon, and it's coming pre-installed with Windows 10.

Should activation go smoothly if I wipe it and clean install using the Media Creation Tool? I hate manufacturer bloatware.

You should log into it and allow it to activate over the internet first. That will establish the Digital Entitlement for that hardware. After that you can do whatever you want.

If it comes with an actual license key on a sticker or card you can use that for your install also.

On genuine 10 installs on (OEM) brandsystems, 10586 will activate using the oem:Dm bioskey ;) Not by HWID

To see if there is a valid oem:Dm table for 10 in the bios you can use the OEM Query tool from abbodi1406. It should show: valid os: 10 (on older 8.x systems it would show: 8.x/10).

    You won't see that.

Thanks, I'll look into this when I get the laptop.
