I hiked to the top of Mount Whitney, which is the highest peak in the contiguous US at 14,500ft. We spent the night on the top and I woke with very bad altitude sickness. But those Everest sherpas *live* at 17,500ft. And climb to over 29,000ft! It's unimaginable how difficult that must be. That vid said the permit fees are $11,000 to climb Everest. They really should make the cost $50,0000 or $75,000 to limit the number of people going there. Too many people are dying there.
