Hi, all. Just discovered a SIMPLE fix for all of this. Sick of "firewall not functioning properly"? Solution below↓ MaxNumFilters (DWORD) inside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network and set it to a, NOT 8. Yes, just a letter a. After two frustrating days searching for solutions online, I became curious to see what the registry looks like in Windows 7 on my other PC. It showed "0x0000000a (10)". What? Just "a" but not "8" or any other numbers? Okay so I tried this on Windows 8.1. Saved and exit. BAM! Comodo now works great after reboot!
It's not 'a', but '0xa' - it's a hexadecimal number and means 10. The decimal is displayed in the brackets. 0x0 = 0 0x1 = 1 0x2 = 2 0x3 = 3 0x4 = 4 0x5 = 5 0x6 = 6 0x7 = 7 0x8 = 8 0x9 = 9 0xA = 10 0xB = 11 0xC = 12 0xD = 13 0xE = 14 0xF = 15 0x10 = 16 . . .
No MaxNumFilters Here and Comodo Runs Good Running Windows 8.1 Pro WMC with Comodo Internet Security Premium 6.3.302093.2976. No MaxNumFilters setting installed in my registry and Comodo runs good. Tried Zonealarm for 30 minutes until computer locked up, forcing reboot and uninstall Zonealarm and install of Comodo. Running fine since. Haven't missed not having a MaxNumFilters setting.
I have same CIS version as yours, so I tested this by deleting MaxNumFilter and I confirm that it also works. Strange...
I can confirm the exact same thing too, but I have disabled HIPS and Auto-Sandbox, and just using the Firewall with custom ruleset. Though I don't think that this gonna make a difference in regards to the registry edit mentioned by OP.
Same Config Where MaxNumFilters Reg Setting Not Necessary My CIS configuration is also HIPS disabled, Auto-Sandbox disabled, Firewall Custom Ruleset, and Antivirus at Stateful.
Same version here , default config , no problems. I have 6 year + Mobo gigabyte 965 dq6 with DDR II . Don't feel any speed difference , It's free , updates Virus defs every 2 to three days. Just Installed Sandboxie and Adfender , free Popup controller , which also updates itself like CCleaner ! Looking forward to MS stopping support for win 7 !!
Why are you using security suite when you still keep installing another apps which have the same functionality, is beyond me.
