I want to upgrade my harddisk to 1tb..please suggest which harddisk or ssd is best for me.. Laptop Model : Compaq Presario CQ62 Notebook PC
Depends on your budget, A 1tb platter drive is a lot cheaper than a 1tb ssd. You'll get more performance from the ssd
You might want to think about a hybrid drive a 1 Tb platter with a big ssd cache lightning fast, and very little premium over a regular platter drive. ...T
I've seen both WD's and Seagate's fail, but I think Seagate drives have a higher failure rate. The WD's seem to be much older before they meet that big data god in the sky
Thanks folks while I get most of my stuff off fleabay I was a little leery of this thing so I got it from my local dealer who has to suffer the complaints of people whose stuff doesn't work so far ( one year later) it's working fine. ...T
With conventional HDD's, I stay away from the two S's: Seagate and Samsung. I have a 160GB Western Digital that's nearly 10 years old with zero bad sectors. The only thing I worry about is the spin-up time, which is about 950 milliseconds according to Smartmontools, meaning the spindle motor is getting pretty tired. Sooner or later it will go to sleep and never wake up.
