Hey Guys, I have this old Compaq Laptop Presario V2000 and I wanted to USB boot it from my pen drive(which has multi boot) But when I get into boot menu, I cant find my pen drive name or any USB boot option to select. It has Phoenix NoteBIOS 4.0 Release 6.1 BIOS according to Dxdiag. 256 MB RAM with Pentium M 1.70 GHz. So, can you guys please help me out ? I'm noob in case of BIOS and BIOS Mods. Thanks in advance !
first thing first, is the USB ok? I mean is it normally readable within windows. Did you try any other port? Also do you know if your motherboard supports booting from USB? If that's not the case then you need plop boot mgr which will allow you to boot from USB(even on old laptops which doesn't have booting from USB as an option).
USB is alright, and boots up on other newer PCs And in V2000, it also gets detected in the POST , but in the boot menu, there is no usb option, there is Hard drive option with "+" in front, like this "+Harddisk" when I select it and press enter, It boots from the hdd
Exactly, thats exactly why I'm here to find out any way to usb boot, by mod or update or anything else..
yes once u have installed plop boot mgr, u shud have the option to boot directly from ur usb, just make sure ur usb is ready and plugged in.
