    Hi,

    I am currently making a windows homeserver out of a compaq sr5219uk pc. it is all stock, so no custom hardware as yet. i just want to get it running.

    I can get it installed, there is just the little matter of activation.

    the bios will have compaq's dmi string i guess, so how can i use this and which oembios files are needed to make it activate?

    No, no...
    You have to use a Windows Server 2003 oembios set, XP oembios sets will not work (available oembios sets can be found here)
    There are only 1 or 2 Windows Home Server OEM:SLP keys leaked, Google for them but i can't tell for which manufacturer these are exactly...

    Now before asking another question try reading a bit, these are all basic questions which are explained in detail in the stickies!

    [edit]
    After seeing the screen-shot is seems you can use any of these oembios sets for Windows Server 2003 to use on your WHS disc.

    HP / COMPAQ (OEMBIOS CRC=CC6CB12C)
    HP / COMPAQ (OEMBIOS CRC=D107C3EA)
    HP / COMPAQ (OEMBIOS CRC=C0023D89) *

    * advised set to use

    whatever...
    I already told you which sets you could use...check their CRC values, how hard can it be?

    Managed to sort it, couldn't figure out why the crc of the files didn't match, but i was looking @ the compressed file, not the file inside..

    Ah well am happy i managed to sort it on my own..

    That exactly was my point, just put a little effort in... it makes one feel better if they eventually manage on their own ;)
