I assume "Remember passwords for sites" is checked and the site you're trying to use isn't listed in Exceptions If 2centsworth trick doesn't work, I would copy the bookmarks.html out of the profile, exit Firefox, and delete the entire Firefox profile. Firefox will make a new profile when you start it again. Then copy back or import your saved bookmarks. You will have to reinstall your extensions and theme if any.
