can anyone confirm activation of window 7 on a Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 motherboard with any of the modded BIOS's available .. i have tried all of the ones that have been posted with the exception of one that no longer has a working download link .. i have also tried modding the F8E bios without success ..

in the slick table description it says ASUS laptop .. which even appears in the original Gigabyte bios as far as i can tell .. which makes no sense .. can anyone shed any light on this issue ..

all attempts have left the slic table tab of the ACPI table as reported in RW Everything in this form ..

    Code:

    85 BB BE 6C E1 B1 33 C2 DA 91 80 F3 44 B4 CA 9F ...l..3.....D...
    01 00 00 00 B6 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 5F 41 53 55 ............_ASU
    53 5F 4E 6F 74 65 62 6F 6F 6B 57 49 4E 44 4F 57 S_NotebookWINDOW
    53 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 S ..............
    00 00 00 00 00 00 24 B0 89 CF B1 F3 1D B8 7A 80 ......$.......z.

some section tabs of the APCI table do reference DELL ..

i have not actually installed Windows seven as it seems pointless unless i can get a SLIC 2.1 table installed ..

any insight or assistance would be greatly appreciated ..

Where did you download the the modded bios from?
I tried a quick search and could not find it.
Why don't you try modding the F7 bios as the F8D appears to be a beta bios?
What tool did you use to flash?

the ones that i have downloaded and tried .. are all the one that i have found listed here on the forum .. an F7 .. F8C .. F8D .. and F8E ..

the current bios is the F8D .. the F8E which is a beta was also listed here .. and original bios was downloaded from the german Gigabyte site ..

i have tried to modify several versions although i have focused on the F8C and above because they have the latest bios version for the on board raid chips .. and are much faster loading that the F7 bios ..

i have used several versions of the Award bios tool starting with about version 1.12 and most recently with version 1.18 .. using the recommended SSV3 method for the Gigabyte board .. including the different force adjustment method options .. i have also tried making and ISA version and a OEM7 version .. although i have not tried flashing them just looked at the logs to look for differences ..

i have not tried the manual location option for SLIC insertion .. although i have been considering giving that a go .. i am assuming you use the memory address given for the SLIC table as reported in RW Everything or Everest .. but i do not know for sure ..

i am fairly sure i have tried the F7 version referenced by Michel .. but i will give it another go .. although the F7 i tried may have used the Dell SLIC & SLP ..

    @michel ..

have you actually activated Windows 7 RTM using the F7_SLIC bios and have a slic table showing a SLIC 2.1 version ?
