they certainly won't do it because they concentrate on touch panels and old CP is not practicable for it any more. Either way it'll end up in the new one, my 2 cents
That's bad news for the Server version of Windows 10. I really hoped that Microsoft would keep all the Win32 glory in Windows Server.
wait and see what will happen to server stuff. maybe they stick with old CP there ... which I doubt honestly
M$ is doing a very good job of killing its flagship product. The envy over android is that huge in M$ HQ? Bill said some while ago that OS will become just an interface to access (very controlled access, of course) main servers run by...
I don't know what M$ is up to - CP is truely indispensable but M$ has developed a tendency of SCREEEWING its user from time to time.
The only part that is still Windows, is the Win32 part, the more they remove, the less of Windows we have left Windoze is dying
Perhaps the folks attempting to patch WMC to run on Windows 10 will throw in the legacy CP. <place sarcastic emoticon here>
Actually their goal IS to kill Win32. I'm fine with them removing the control panel as long as ALL of the functionality is moved to the settings app. It actually makes sense to have the settings app be the same across all devices. It's a pain for people like us because we have to relearn everything. However, once it's learned at least it will be consistant. I already use windows phone and have windows tablets so I will probably see more of a benefit than someone who just uses win10 on their desktop.
I have been learning Control Panel since it was introduced in windows 3 and kept improving over the years. If it is not consistent anymore... then . Adobe Flash, Realtek, Avira are a few to name those who create icons/entries in control panel (.cpl). Its not only going to affect the user but also the developers too.
it is dead already, paul, in my book. what they did in w 10, what they did in updates in w7, even in w8, is just not palatable, imo.
They are just kicking away another crutch for us old windows users. First windows update now control panel.
