Is it possible to convert KMS v6 to KMS v5 in Windows 8.1?
Latest 8.1 Preview used KMS v5, and RTM is v6.. My (dummy) question is: Can we replace some system files from Preview that will 'convert' RTM to KMS v5, and than use some of old kms emulators? :) Sounds too simple, but maybe it's possible? I'm not expert in that stuff, so asking some of you about help.. Sorry for bad english.. :)

    Greetings, pleXtOr !

I think no, because is supposed to be part of kernel.

    We prefer not to hacktivate.

Let me think about that for a second: Yes, replace your install.wim on your Windows 8.1 ISO with the install.wim from a preview disc.

    Problem ?

it would be flagged hard and you wouldn't be able to update the OS without breaking the activation. IF it were to be possible in the first place. Yeah, just hang tight lil'grasshoppers

First I agree hactivation is bad however this would cause too many issues to count.

First the new tokens 2.0 won't sync up with the old licensing files. Second the new licensing information is stored directly into the kernel licensing and as a whole the entire licensing for the OS. You would have better luck taking every license file from Windows 8 and replacing those in Windows 8.1 which would be near impossible due to the kernel aspects.

I feel this should explain the can of worms involved with attempting such an undertaking. You would make a mess of the operating system making a kind of bastardized frankenbuild in the process as well.
