    Hi,

I see that there's a way to convert retail version to OEM, but is reverse possible ?

I installed with a retail version DVD, want to try "SLIC 2.1 activation" (I have a "SLIC 2.1 DELL" bios), then return to Retail, because I have a legitimate retail key.

I want to be sure, I upgraded yesterday from a Vista with a lot of programms and I dont want to fuken reinstall from scratch if change to retail version fails.

    Thank you in advance.

Ok, I didn t activated my retail yet, so I think I ll try right now SLP key, see if it works, then revert to retail with legitimate key and finally activate retail.
I understand to pay attention with online activation with same computer but different channel activations ;)

thanks a lot for your advices and backup utility, very usefull for me ;)

you don't even have to go through the hoops of running the other commands. just install a new product key and it will change chans.

all you have to do to revert from OEM to retail is

    slmgr.vbs -ipk retailkey

that will change the PID to a retail PID and give you a 30 day grace period for activation.

my tool can back up and restore files needed for offline activation of retail keys. it was said in this post to save him the key in the future. only so many online activations of a retail key. the program writes the installed product key to a file so it can be installed again with out the user having to run any of the commands (slmgr.vbs -ipk).
