Hey Guys, I see theres a new PP3 trial disk available from MS that has a 30 day limit. Has anyone managed to mod this to use it with their own CD Key ? I'm about to rebuild our WHS, and i'm looking for a lazy route.
I agree, OEM:SLP is the way to go. I just wanted to see if it really worked, even with the PP3 trial, and it did. Lazy as I am i left it running... When m$ decides to make it non-genuine I will make the required changes to my installation.
If your key is good (not some doggy VL key from unknown source) than it is almost impossible to be turned to non-genuine sebus
Impossible? In my opinion it is quite easy for MS to detect those as there simply are no VLK editions for Windows Home Server
I only said "almost impossible" (of course you are right, anything IS possible!) But would M$ bother with this one? sebus
Something strange is happening... one install using the above method finished fine, now a new install resulted in a endless loop while installing... have to review my steps (tonight)
Good News. I've seen a couple of reports that MS has released WHS PP3 disk in Japan, so hopefully they'll be released over here soon. Yeah, I was hoping that would work, as it did with Server 2003. Just haven't got my test boxes back up and running yet. So I took the lazy route and asked. I've had that problem plenty of times, when making/modding WHS images. I've never been able to find a fix. Altho, theres is a work round, involving a .reg hack to stop the loop. Then setting up the security seeting through the console. I'll dig the info out of my backups if you want it. @DataRight, Sebus VLK versions of WHS don't see all the Windows Updates, which can be a real problem.
Files were working just fine, eg the cdimage command has changed a bit Code: CDIMAGE_2.54 -u1 -j1 -bC:\Windows_Home_Server_DVD\boot\etfsboot.com -lCC1HOEM3_EN -g224 -t10/29/2009,14:17:54 C:\Windows_Home_Server_DVD C:\Windows_Home_Server_DVD.ISO 14:17:54 is GMT, i live in GMT + 1 so for me it reads 13:17:54
I'm getting that endless loop even with the trial iso pp3 (original not moded) downloaded from Microsoft. Something is not right with this OS because i can install any other version of 2k3 in the same hardware in about 25 mins without nay problems ( I even don't need to install drivers because everything is recognized ).
When i got the Beta Of Windows Home Server a Few Years ago, before it was release, i had the same problem, until i actually disconnected the Computer from the internet cable .. i dont know why, but its because its some kind of way to say, "hay pall you arent serving anybody now .. install me first then connect me" .. Then it actually worked , i had in that time in Beta a Nvidia Nforce Networkcontroller , so i thought i was because of that, it have allways been the black sheep in windows with no drivers, but actually my realtek onboard netcontroller was doing the same thing even on the final version when it was release so for me i havent got any succes with install the home server while its in pre-install stage ..
