    Hi

juist bought a new laptop and it came with windows 7 home premium X64.

Is it possible without formatting and re-installing windows to change it to ultimate?

as i understand it you can upgrade via MS by just changing the product key?

    Thanks for any help

    Matt

yep, as long as it is a big name brand you just use a key from the SLP key topic here on MDL and use it in the "windows anytime upgrade" program and you should be good to go :)

Do a clean install, get rid of that junk pre-installed by Toshiba. I got 3 Toshiba laptops.
I mean; I've done that to my 3 laptops

I would, but i have a issue with the drivers that windows update installs. when i do a clean install.

When the system hibernates it freezes the mouse when starting back up.

The only way ive found it sort it is using the recovery disks, i suspose theres a different driver for the mouse or summit.

Had the same problem with my wife's Asus. Changing mouse solved that. Try that.

you mean mouse pad - you dont change it, too much hassle. Don't download the driver, it will work better without.

'cos they stupid?r...prob. started as a marketing ploy to sell upgrade keys - nobody thought to block OEM upgrades... unless someone knows if there is such a need by OEM's..a lot of what they do makes little to no sense
'suppose it's hard to think straight with dollar signs in ur eyes :p
