I need to do a clean install because of what seems to be a browser (Firefox) hijack.
As the biggest part of a clean install always seems to be adding the Firefox bookmarks again, I am looking for shortcut for this. For obvious reasons I cannot use the present profile.

Will it be safe to use only the same bookmark list?
Is there a way copy the bookmarks only, and insert them into the new profile on the fresh installation?

    Thank you

I think it is horrible Firefox hijacked your system. May I recommend Chrome. I sign into my Google account, and all my bookmarks, extensions, and passwords are automatically, as if by magic, right as they should be. No setup required! Life is Good!

What this Hijack means? What are the symptoms?
And what means the "clean install"?
If you're thinking about re-install Firefox, it does not in any way change the settings and bookmarks. Only a few .sqlite files and extensions in "Default" folder are replaced with new ones. If You use a different profile folder (not Default folder), then also they will not replaced.

well if you leave your windows down and don't lock the doors, coming to a red light can be pretty dangerous!

Forum - it's like a wonderland. Everything is possible.
:worthy: And the most strangest thing - anyone doesn't know, what is the problem, but everyone knows what to do.

Thank you, but if I ask a question, I (usually) ask exactly what I want to know ....

    Thank you,
so the latest one on that list will contain all the bookmarks I have restored, and I simply restore the file of the whole folder in the new Ff installations?

Wow, that would be great...

I do not know, but what it does is, supplying Ad agencies with the pages you use, so they can put selected fitting ads to your computer. ABP does not let those through either, so it took a while to find out, the un-authorized network connections gave it away.

It is a software called Process Hacker, but I have no idea, the world is a funny place, so it is possible that it is actually this software that installs the malware.....

In the forum it is not really the problem.

The bad news the rest of the planet uses the same logik, so that explains the state it is in...
If you are into cynisism then of course that too deserves a :D

In the two most recent versions of Firefox (ie in versions 47.0.x and 48.0.x) exactly is the problem, that "Places.sqlite" file will been corrupted, and usually does this work Wise Care 365, if the file was not included in exceptions list.
I was looking for a long time, until I found where the dog is buried, or other wise to say, where is the reason, that the bookmarks has often disappeared.
So it was, at least for me so, until I found the cause. Now, do not get lost anymore nothing.

Of course forget, I put it in Ccleaner exclusions list also. Firefox automatically generates a new after start or restart..
But it seems to me that it's not the problem with the cleaners, but a Firefox problem. It was not a long ago, when the Firefox certificate file (cert8.db) was corrupt.

Periodically, usually when I make changes of some sort, I Show All Bookmarks then use the Backup utility to save bookmarks into my Documents folder as a .json file or Export to a .html file. Firefox will "restore" the .json and "import" the .html.
