I bricked a motherboard a few years back and had planned to fix it. I'm now just getting around to it but I realize I don't know where to start. My board does have a rom recovery header on it though. As seen in this post on hp's website http____://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/How-to-use-the-rom-recovery-on-s3230uk/td-p/1563499 Could anyone guide me through flashing a new bios through rom recovery? Currently when I plug the board into power the CPU fan turns on at a very low speed. I have available to me: Direct Com port Usb to Com port USB to TTL device Arduino Uno ( no experience in using this as of yet ) Breadboard + Resistors + Wires Linux Windows Mac Thanks in advance!
It looks like the SPI jumper is probably used through some sort of HP-specific equipment. An easier way of going about this is if you just flash the BIOS chip itself off the board, while you could technically mod the Arduino you have, BIOS EPROM programmers are not terribly expensive and would save you quite a bit of time unless you really just want to do this for a bit of fun. If your response is the ladder, this might help you http______://hackaday.com/2012/05/04/arduino-uno-bios-flasher/
