I keep getting a pop up online wanting to scan my computer because it says that I have a virus but I think that the site wanting to scan my computer is the virus! If I don't click OK to scan it will just keep poping up and it won't let me close the window. I run my own virus software which is Kaspersky but it doen't help. I also get an error pop up at starting my computer and asks if I want to send a report of the error to Microsoft but that hasn't seemed to help at all. I've run disk clean and defrag... now I'm looking for help from people who might know what else I could try.

    What browser are you using?

Does this happen on a certain website?

Sounds to me like it is yet another one of those adds that claim to be a free virus/spyware scanner and after you download install and run it it does a fake scan and shows fake results then says your computers infected do you want to buy the full version to remove the virus when infact the scanner itself installs the virus in the first place lol.

If you get sick of constantly seeing and now even hearing adds while surfing the net download Firefox there is a few free addons that are really great for blocking unwanted adds, one of them is called Adblock Plus which you can subscribe to a add definition list much like a virus scanner and the other is called Flashblock which I use for insurance, it makes it so that any embedded flash does not download automatically, works like a charm ;).

I assume that pop up blocker is on because I never get any other pop ups.

If you have troubles with scripts in Firefox get a plugin called "NoScript". You can allow the sites you browse and know are safe.
