Hello ced-2k - After reading the specs from Intel's website, it appears the T5500 is compatible with a FSB @ 667MHz, while the T7500 is compatible with a FSB @ 800MHZ. I could not find detailed specs for your motherboard describing the speed of the front side bus, but I suggest that's the first thing you should investigate.
Thanks John that might actually be the problem. I know for sure that some HP DV9000 where sold with T7500/T7600 CPU, that why I bought that one... But now I think that those notebooks used a newer motherboard than the Quanta 30BB
Hello ced-2k - I did some more digging at Intel's website, unfortunately I don't have 20 posts yet so I can't provide a direct link for you. Here is the webpage: ark.intel.com/products/series/23516/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T7000-Series#@Mobile Only the T7200, T7400, and T7600 work with a 667MHz FSB; all the rest of the T7000 series mobiles are 800MHz FSB. All three have a 4MB L2 cahe, are socket PBGA479/PPGA478, 1.0375V-1.300V, and 34W. The only difference I can see between the three is that the T7400 is described as having "Embedded Options Available".
You could also go with a T7600G which has unlocked multipliers.I recently upgraded to a T7600 as it was way cheaper(around 60.00 cdn on ebay shipped from china) vs the T7600G which are scarce and was only 1 I found on ebay for over 300.00.
Yes now I also believe that those 3 are the only compatible ones... thanks for the link! I'll try to wait for a cheap T7600, I'm not in a hurry. T7600G is way too expensive and surely not a good idea in a notebook known for overheating issues. It's not my main computer, just one I use to to test Windows 10, I thought that $14 for the T7500 was a good deal so I didn't think that much before buying it
