    Probably the speed can also be changed through systemcpl.dll or systemcpl.dll.mui. I though of that just minutes after posting the question :rolleyes:

    How does windows actually reads the name? Does it read it from the cpu itself, and directly or through bios?
    Or does the bios check the cpu, looks in his list of supported cpus and then wirtes the best fitting name in RAM?

    You're laughing with it, but as long as it's not read directly from the cpu by the os it's possible. It's technically possible if you disassemble the bios code and reprogram it to show a name of choice to the os rather than showing the name inside the CPU itself.
    But ofcourse modding the OS is waaay easier and better in that way that it can be fixed by changing reg-values back or replacing a file.
