I have first used connectify but annoyed to have it stoped every few hours, then tried every other apps I could google, and also the cmd to activate the win8 build in wlan......

Although I am still annoyed with the connectify, now I have it in my XP, win7, win8, 9385. LOL :p

Hopefully they add Ad-Hoc back into Windows 8.1 because Intel My Wifi is that s**t.

Thanks OP for pointing this..I am also in the process of looking out for a software to create Ad-hoc wireless access point and not a Virtual Wi-Fi (Hosted Network)..Most of the software mentioned in this thread leverage the current capability in Windows 8 to create a Hosted Network, but this requires your wireless device to support Hosted Network, As far as I know, Only Connectify Hotspot (as much as I despise it for service stopping errors ) offers the ability to create Ad-hoc Networks and Virtual Wi-Fi (Hosted Network) Networks seperately..If someone else has information on any alternative to Connectify..That would be great :hug2:.

P.S. Personally I stay away from the Virtual Wi-Fi (Hosted Networks) on my Intel Wireless Adapter, as previous attempts have resulted in numerous BSODs and massive system instability (most probably a driver issue).

    Cheers :)

Hi, I just came here to tell you that you need to share the Ethernet connection to the WiFi Adapter
Just right click on the connection which have the internet and Properties > Then Sharing tab from the top, and the Mark on Allow other network user... etc. then choose WiFi then Ok.

And then the Virtual Router plus will start successfully.

you can use adHoc8 to create adhoc wireless connection in windows 8 or 8.1

download "adhoc8" from codeplex it and use it. it is a very simple tool too.

should be build-in in 8.1... Using 3rd party is not an option. Obviously 8.1 preview is not complete, again.
