    Hi guys:

    I am curious to hear, which AV you use/recommend for W2k8R2 Server. Mainly used SQL and data server. some have AD, only one has Exchange running.

    Symantec Endpoint Protection or
    Microsoft Security Essentials (free and efficient)

    Microsoft Security Essentials is no longer an option in Windows Server 2012 though.

    You can try these:

    Microsoft Security Essentials
    Avira AntiVir
    AVG Antivirus
    Kaspersky Antivirus
    Windows Defender

    You can try also others. ;)

    I have been using Microsoft forefront client on 2012r2 for about a month with no problems.

    I believe support from Micro ends in the next year or so, but for now no problems with updates and works well.

    So, what is the default AV for 2012 R2, if any?

    The only thing I can confirm is that Symantec Endpoint Protection v12.1.3001.165 on Windows Server 2012 R2
    is compatible (no issues what so ever AFAICS)
    run with decent memory and cpu consumption
    does not recognise the conduit crap as virus
    removes silently pretty much all programs written in assembly

    NOD32 works well on Windows Server with patched MSI installer by Orca.msi -> google...
