Hi all, I've a quick question which i hope someone may have a definitive answer to, be it a method or telling me it's not possible. Anyway, here goes. When ejecting external media from the system tray, your greeted with e.g. Sandisk Cruzer Blade or what and who ever are the original manufacturers etc. Is it possible to mod this in anyway so it'll have a different flag. E.g. "My Stuff" or whatever you'd like it to say. I've been trawling the interwebz on and off for a long time now and haven't come across any definitive answer? Thanks in advance for all/any input
That is easy. Right click on the drive and select properties. The first field is called the Volume Label and you can change that to just about whatever you want... "My Stuff" would be perfect. It can get more complicated if you want, an autorun.inf file in the root directory which can point to a custom drive icon and stuff like that if you wish. Google that.
Your just talking Volume label. He's wanting to change what the hardware name that's displayed/detected...
@JFKI Many thanks for your input. I already "brand" drives via: Code: [AUTORUN] label=example ICON=example.ico[code] Which is all well and good. I'm trying to drill a little deeper to change how the external presents itself when ejecting safely?
