Are there any good solutions to make W10 looks like Windows 98/ME/2000 with Classic theme? Or it's easier made on some Linux distro? Just bored from default W10 theme.

The day that 200MB of added bloat will improve the speed of anything I'll eat my hat :D

offline installer of 4.8 is ~120mb compressed

    try powershell 7 vs 5
    check the diff
running script files sorting and such much better

The offline installer is so big because it contains one cab for every supported OS (8 different OS), for sure it's not small but it mostly replaces the previous versions, NET 6 is an addition that's what I don't like.

Powershell is almost an OS itself, can make sense rewriting it from the ground.

But a stupid W95 like taskbar?

The whole StartAllBack (that turns the Whole W11 GUI inside out is less than 4MB + another couple MBs for skins), compressed is around 1.5MB, Classic Shell is around 6M and most part of the space is taken by skins...

  8. At least it works reliably. RetroBar + OpenShell do the job.
If you have something better, post it. But, of course, you haven't.

I couldn't care less of the taskbar, it's not like the start menu that was massacred.

You push a button and you switch to a task, in Win10 like in win95.

In win 11 the taskbar can be fixed by the already mentioned startallback or explorer patcher.

Not bad for someone who dont know alternatives.

  10. The author of this topic cares, so I answered him.
GUI is just matter of preference.

I don't really care about theme and taskbar. But I DO care about Start Menu.
I use Open Shell with XP style menu in almost all my Windows.
