    Hi All,

Is there a way to customize the Right-Click Start Menu Command in Windows 8.1 (like changing the "Command Prompt" to "Windows Update"...!

    TIA

Yes, there is a way if you know how to modify the context menu. The windows update is wuapp.exe. I just tried on my windows 8.1 and it works fine.

Not if he has a clean desktop without any icons.

I never said he did. I was just pointing out a fact that your suggested method requires clicking on a specific icon rather than right-clicking any empty space for an easy access to windows update.

Then just create a shortcut to the following:

    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX \YourChoiceofGroups

I created a new shortcut in Group3 and name it "Windows Update", the command is "%windir%\system32\control.exe /name Microsoft.WindowsUpdate".

Restarted Explorer, but it did not show in the menu!:smokecowboy:

The shortcut for Windows Update is "wuapp.exe"

Sorry, I don't know how to modify the database for link files...
