    Hello all,
I have a mind-bender of a problem today. I've tried to fix this myself with my Google-fu, but to no avail thus far.

I have never asked for technical support for a Windows problem, but here goes...

Everyday I get 1 or 2 random freezes. The first thing that happens is I notice slight overall software irregularity (Ex: mouse moves weird or lags for half a second), and after about a minute, my mouse lags for 2 seconds, works again for about a second, and then my computer freezes completely. (music and everything)

I have Microsoft Security Essentials along with Malwarebytes Pro. I have never seen a problem like this. This is a new PC build.

Deleting the EppOobe.etl file in "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Client\Support" does not help. I want Security Essentials installed. That fix is only for people who have incorrectly uninstalled Security Essentials.

    Hardware:
    • AMD FX-4350 4-core CPU @ 3.8GHz
    • ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 Mobo.
    • G.Skill DDR3 PC3-12800 RipjawsX Series (2x4GB)
    • Nvidia GTX 650 TI 1GB DDR5 (not the 2GB Boost model)

Here's the event logs that show up everytime before the freeze occurs (in order of occurance).
    1. Event 6008, EventLog - The previous system shutdown at 10:35:39 PM on 2/15/2014 was unexpected
    2. 2/15/2014 10:37:14 PM - Critical: Event 41, Kernel-Power - The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
    3. 2/15/2014 10:37:17 PM - Error: Event 3, Kernel-EventTracing - Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D
    4. 2/15/2014 10:37:22 PM - Error: Event 7026, Service Control Manager - The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: VDiskBus
    5. (Freeze occurs here* and requires cold reboot)
    6. 2/15/2014 10:39:10 PM - Error: Event 10, WMI - Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
    7. (*Or Freeze occurs here and requires cold reboot)

EDIT: I just ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter, and got this as the result:

i have been having this exact same issue, over the last few weeks,
i gave up and have re-installed but after doing so i checked the Event Logs and saw the same error message so just waiting to see if my PC crashes again!

this is my error "Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected"

    My pc is old
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33GHz
4G Ram ( i connot remember what brand)
    ATI 4800 series Graphics
    SSD Corsehair 120G drive

i know this does not help you but i hope someone has had the issue and has been able to solve it and can help us

that Article has broken links, could you try to find another one???

also today after the full system re-install I have gotten the same error again, I am guessing this is a HARDWARE issue and is something with the CPU, I hope I am wrong but it seems like the issue when reading this "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99"

not happy but at least my PC has been around for 5 years and is due for an update

This is a generalized performance fix. The only things found on my system were startup items and a disabled superfetch. (I have an SSD. Doesn't need to be enabled.)

Thanks for the link. I understand what this error is now, but that's the thing. Apparently this error is actually not an error, but an accidental configuration on Microsoft's part. The error doesn't even mean there's a problem; you can actually ignore the error. At least the post linked says so... So that error must not be related...

So my freezing problem still exists.

Is it related to the VDiskBus crash event then?

Vdiskbus.sys is not a Windows file and the only reference to it that I can find
on Google mention Winternals software, Sunward Information Technology Co.Ltd or
    Asus's Diskunlocker utility.
As you have an Asus motherboard, maybe that has something to do with this file.

Well looks like this issue is not going to get resolved :(

only thing i guess it can be is a hardware issue with the Motherboard i have an Asus mother board, will try to get a bios update for it and see how i go

    Note
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
I had the latest drivers so this has not made a difference
