Is there anything I can try to install 8.1 on a PC with a processor that doesn't support PrefetchW?

If your processor doesn't have prefetchw, use an x86 version or a previous windows version.

I tried the "remove various CPU feature checks in Windows 8.1 x64" using version 1.5 of Jan1's patch on a Dell Precision 470 using a Intel Paxville CPU: SL8MA
But Windows installation crashes, there is a black screen flashing with this error (you need a camera to catch it, it's flickering & really fast)

    Error Code: 0x000000c4
    Parameters:
    0x0000000000000091
    0x000000000000000F
    0xFFFFF800CBD53A80
    0x0000000000000000

So can the patch remove the PrefetchW check or not? (It's the only thing missing, the CPU does support the other required instructions)

exact same error code (captured w iphone video)
dell dimension 4700, cpu upgraded to pent 4 541 (specifically to get 64 capability), 4G ram, originally XPSP2 32bit

failed Full Retail custom W8.1 install: Error Code same as "hanzzon2" got (web searching relates this code mainly to W server / VirtualBox )

successful W7 32bit upgrade (had an extra nearby) and again fail W8.1 64 custom install but successful W8.1 32bit install.

used DBAN to wipe hard drive, successful W7 64bit install (but prod key not valid as XP no longer available on drive for this "upgrade" license but it did install no other prob by skipping the "key enter" field) but again fails W8.1 64bit - stuck now on the "PrefetchW" problem (got much further than the earlier Error Code attempt)

any solution? I'm in the same boat as Hanzzon2

    thx, kyle
