Every 2 weeks or so, Windows Defender keeps pointing at the very same 8 files, that I added to exceptions/ignore already. This is getting truly annoying.

Is there any additional "fix" for this?

if you install a third party av defender gets disabled, you could use mcafee, kaspersky, avira, etc

Fixing a problem in your house by just not going to your house is not a fix.
Unfortunately, I also face the same issue. After platform updates, it seems that Windows Defender decides to scan all ignored/excluded files and automatically quarantine them. But this is very random for me

Yeah I've experienced the same. I have a few tools that I incorporate into my winpe builds (like produkey) that get flagged so have added exceptions - which sometimes get removed.
I should just add a batch file to startup that add's these in...

I've had a continuing issue with Defender flagging files even when turned off/disabled. Drives me nuts...

just wondering if you & others have added exceptions to Defender as both in Files and Process(es).

adding exceptions to Files alone may not be enough if those files are *.exe files - need to add exceptions to the "Process" of those same files as well

It's begun to detect just about everything benign but that doesn't confirm to the standard "use it as we want you to use it" as a virus or malware. I've had safe files in my downloads folder for over a year it's now decided were viruses. The one peeving me the most right now is ExplorerPatcher. Every update to that I have to deal with explorer going berserk or just not starting at all, and once again add the exception for Win32.Patcher!BLSHTFALSEPOSITIVE. About to just do what I never cared to do and run Defenderless. It's so much like the trashy low class AVs out there now why bother.

"Hurdur we see you have a file that could be used by other files to do file things but also bad things so we're deleting it."
"Hurrrrr this is a literal hacktool don't you know those could be dangerous if you aren't careful?! lykomg, say goodbye to that totally safe file. Poof!"

are you on windows 11 home or pro? I use group policy editor to add exceptions and over 2 years now and have not had defender "ignore" or "delete" them. I don't think defender can delete them if they are added in group policy editor

When your house is burnt to begin with, there is nothing to fix rather than getting a new one. Defender is just bad, pretty much like any MS app, half baked, half-broken. I wasted days, weeks trying to get it work. It is not worth the effort.

I used iso builded from uupdump. net it's windows 11 23h2 pro for workstation. no tweaks. This happen after blue screen and system restore to previous point. this is a weak netbook and I wannted to tweak system by ATLAS OS and when i run AME wizard first step is to block defender. And i cant go further because ame wizard cant open and check defender setings.
