i have an Windows 7 Professional 32Bit OEM disk but i need the V2.1 BIOS please?
Latest original BIOS of 1440 has SLIC 2.1 itself
If you purchase 1440 n series, the SLIC table has been locked and all you need is unlock it.
download FDD image belows
- make a bootable CD with the image (or you can make bootable USB with extracted content)
- boot your 1440 with the bootle CD/USB
- Just clear the Service Tag and re-enter it. The SLIC table will be presented.
PS/ You can download the bootable CD image (ISO) file here:
wuhoatu, i did extract the contents of the .iso file & the image file put it in a USB flash drive i did a boot from it after that appear to me just a black screen with a DOS writing cursor at the bottom right of the screen so what should do next and how can i load the image file??
Oh, after make bootable USB, you must copy all the extracted content to USB (do not replace file which existing), it will boot with DOS and run autoexec.bat to show the screen like this
where XXXXXXX is your actual Service Tag.
Press "Y" and re-enter your Service Tag. Finish.
it's still have the same, i did run the program from windows it appears the same windows you talk about and i hit yes it's disappear so i run it using command prompt CMD and it said that:

Note: This action will erase the asset, owner and service tag.
You may use the ASSET.COM program for MOST systems to set the
asset and owner tag.
Do you want to erase (and/or change) this service tag (Y or N)? y

I told you what I am. But what are you?
EE-CPB.exe: Error 0
svctag.exe must be run in DOS environment, not from WINDOWS because it can be error within WINDOWS environment. I already made it with my friend's 1440.
1. create bootable USB with extracted content from the image.
2. copy all other file of extracted content to the USB but DO NOT REPLACE ANY EXISTING FILES (these files - MSDOS.SYS, IO.SYS, COMMAND.COM - immigrateed by format tool such as HP USB Format Tool).
3. Boot your 1440 with the USB and re-enter Service Tag. That's all
Sorry i did waste your time but i fix the problem before you reply the post andi post something but it seems it didn't load it on the page so I want to say the i manage to run DOS using a bootable program & i run the svctag.exe and change the service Tag & i'm so great full for your support & Patience.
Thanks you soooooooooooo Much
Can anyone confirm their Inspiron 1440 with bios A.07 did the MS web activation OK? Seems some Dell systems are SLIC 2.1 activated appearing as "licensed" but fail the web based check as explained here.
Confirmed. with my friend 1440 n series, after enable SLIC table, I already install Windows 7 Professional (from Ultimate Retail iso), activated with DELL OEM Product key and certificate 2.0 - sucessfully validated with MS Web.
sorry, but i don`t understand. is this enought, if i simply write this image to the CD:
or i must prepare bootable CD in a different way?
Just burn the image to disc & boot from it.
