should be, the mod has been tested many times, including on my own laptop.. I was using Vista before and I don't think I had to run as administrator in Vista (only logged in on an admin account) but last time I flashed in Win7 I had to right click and run as admin... maybe the memory is going.... lol
Thank you very much. I made it last night. Now the BIOS of my 6400 has SLIC 2.1 in it. After flash the bios (inside the vista), the system boots up but holds at the bios screen for a while. I thought the motherboard was toasted. After reboot several times, the system eventually boots up, and everything is ok. Thanks again.
After any bios flash the motherboard will be expected to boot slowly, it has to go through the entire boot process and cannot skip any self tests, be patient and it will boot faster next time..
ioftro, you should be ok. I have same laptop with dual boot. Windows 7 Ultimate & Win XP MCE Factory Brand Activated. EVen after modding my bios to SLIC 2.1, XP MCE still Genuine and pass updates check.
This might be a noobish question, but if my RSDT/PubKey/Marker fields in Slic Toolkit say "DELL M07" instead of "DELL M09" like in these screen shots, will this mod still work for me? It's a Dell E1505 and the BIOS version is A17. The only thing different from the screenshots here is that DELL M07 part. The SLIC Dump line also reads "DELLM07_V2.0" instead of 09. Will this be a problem? Thanks in advance for any info on this.
Hi equazcion. That will get updated when you flash the bios. The screenshots you see here are of a bios after it is flashed.
Just wanted to share that skakeys "MM061MOD.exe" worked for upgrading my e1505 Inspiron to slic 2.1. I tried the "6400-e1505.zip" and that did not upgrade my slic to 2.1.
Dell Inspiron 6400 SLIC 2.1 Mod Hi, Is there anyway the file could be re-uploaded as the links are all down? Thanks.
