I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop which has ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 dedicated graphic card. I faced 2 problems with it. First 1 is while installing the driver for the graphic card, Catalyst Install Manager fails to install and whole driver package installation fails. Second 1 is while running a program called Guiminer (I want to use it for Bitcoin mining), it says OpenCL.dll device is not found. How can I solve these 2 problems?
I have a driver installation disc supplied with the laptop. I also tried downloading the latest driver from AMD website. But it didn't worked. My system is running Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64. The system is fully stable. It's not showing any problems at all. Checked Devices Manager and found graphic driver installed properly. But Program and Features in Control Panel not showing the driver installed in the list.
Tried everything. Downloaded the driver from dell website, downloaded the latest catalyst driver from AMD website, even re-installed Windows. Still got no solution.
Dell says n5010 model is not compatible with windows 8 and 8.1.All drivers are available but the ATI graphics or intel graphics that gets installed automatically from windows 8 gives BSOD problem(for 8.1 there is no ATI graphics driver at all) .Every now and then you get blue screen due to ATI/intel graphics and laptop restarts. There is no suitable ATI graphics driver for windows 8.I tried both 8 and 8.1 but same Blue screen problem and system restarts.i searched all over net but no solution. Finally i installed windows 7 professional with n5010 ATI graphics driver.i simply upgraded to windows 8 professional instead of clean installation keeping all files and settings intact.once windows 8 started to open i got error telling that ATI catalyst manager is not compatible.i simply choose dont show this message again.now no blue screen issues.its working great.i downloaded the replacement Bluetooth driver from net and its working like anything. No blue screen issues.
Its the video chipset starting to come lose from mainboard. Clean heatsink and u might have to reflow board. Careful it warps
