So I start a clean new thread. is it possible to mod the slic of dell Inspiron b130 Laptop? I have tried a while back with the dell gx240 with support of others, learning phonix ect.. with hope that some program would extract them dell dios. So I hear that somehow they can be done via the asset tag or something. Any insight would be great, as I am willing to experiment a little to get it going.
Confirm..It cannot be done. It is only recently we can change existing, cannot add slic to bios. Similar to InSyde in that respect.
Hey thanks for the help.. Right after I posted this comment yesterday. I searched and found the correct post for phoenix bios Dell computers, I,ve moded my Inspiron 1721 and got complete victory. Now I have 2.1 Slic table with the help of Shakeyplace moded bios. Now Im just finishing downloading Windows 7 RTM Final with uTorrent.. 55% right now. For the Post, I confirm this moded bios from Shakeyplace deos work! Thanks...
I did get it sliced however 2 things. .One the onboard video doesnt support 7 so there will be no euro.. 2nd I dont know if its related to the slic bios but the battery stopped charging.. I have put it back despite the 10% charged error (In dos) and still.. so either the battery died the second i flashed and its coincidence, or the bios mod didnt agree
Looked everywhere for this file on google and forums, seems to have vanished as it was only posted with one original link. anyone know the actual filename to narrow down the search? Ok, so I cannot post links until I make 20 posts or more, I successfully modded and applied/tested the A07_1721 BIOS for the Dell Inspiron 1721 (AMD Processor and Radeon X1270 GPU) and would like to assist anyone who is also looking for the file, I would suggest sending me a PM and I will send my FileDen link to you. This Laptop was previously upgraded to Win7 Home Premium 32bit Dell OEM from vista (yes I know dell OEM disks don't normally support upgrade but I modded that disk as well) and was showing the Get Genuine message at bootup with need to activate, after applying this 2.1 bios it doesn't show the genuine message and is shown as activated in System Properties, also there is no battery issue as indicated by Simbalage22. Talk about an old dead thread! Just a couple weeks ago I was looking for a SLIC mod for this computer (Inspiron 1721) and indeed the only link out there seems to be the dead Sendspace one. Just re-Googled it today and found the newest reply here. Awesome. FYI: Through some creative searching I believe the filename of what was hosted on Sendspace was originally "MOD_1721.EXE" (as Dell BIOS packages are a single executable, this seems potentially correct). Hopefully this comes in handy for someone.
