Dell Latitude D610 HELP Please....

    you cant put a quart into a pint pot! the Dell D610 has a max memory of 2 GB ! so send back your four gigs and replace with two x1 GB

    Very interesting...I should check to see if my D610 supports 3GB.

    @sleipni66 - Looks like 3GB is the "real" max even though the specs say 2GB. Return one of your 2GB sticks if possible.

    Since you have the built-in Intel graphics, if you want a bigger PATA hard drive, you'll need to flash my D610 A51 modded BIOS for 48-bit LBA support.

    very interesting indeed... I just tried this with my D610 that has ATI video instead... it doesn't recognize the additional 2GB at DIMM slot B, and with DIMM slot A (under keyboard), it fails POST with memory address errors... I used only a 1GB stick and 2GB stick on both tests

    tried it with my D410 also (which has intel video but same 915 chipset)... same thing with DIMM slot B, but with DIMM slot A, the video was garbled on bootup

    I guess it's some weirdness with the D610 with the intel video that allows you to get away with 3GB? :confused:
