anyone had any success changing the bios for slic 2.1? or had any luck with any of the loaders even. I cant seem to find any info on any thread or website regarding the M1530.

The 1530 bios is posted here. Test it and let us know if it works.

I am as well. I have never done it before. I have only upgraded my bios the normal way. However it seems easy enough just not sure i trust a file without confirming it works. Not really looking to break my only computer:)

do you know the exact steps that go with it? I downloaded the file from the other thread but what are the exact steps needed? would be nice if these bioses were easy with say a iso or a .bat that you could just boot to it then type run.bat or something and it did the rest;)

You can follow the steps in post no. 6. That´s the tutorial in the XPS 1330 post.

The bat file would just be:

    1530_A12 -readgzfile

where 1530_A12.exe is the bios file from dell.com.

And the modded 1530 bios file (bios.gz as a rar file) works!

Well, I'm on the BBSC one. They are probably identical. Anyway, I prefer the DOS way, would not trust a windows installer (even though it's really not windows).

why do you say that? and it appears the lenovo key was blacklisted maybe ill just wait for another key. and i am not exactly sure exactly how it works after the slic is 2.1 do i just reinstall and it auto puts the key in and activates? with vista i just put my vista cd in and i never had to enter the key on my laptop it automatically knew it.

I think I saw a windows installer for the M1530, but there were problems. Maybe I'm mistaken.

The one known key is blacklisted for online activation, but we are doing an offline activation. You're right that Microsoft might one day tell you that your W7 with this key isn't genuine. There is a large discussion of this elsewhere. But there will soon be other keys.

With SLIC 2.1 you still have to enter the key and the correct certificate. You can use the 1.2 lo*der (Orbit30 & Hazar) or enter yourself the two commands:

    slmgr -ilc C:\*.XRM-MS
    slmgr -ipk <key>

but first read about Windows 7 activation :)

i prefered too modding my xpsM1330 in dos mode with the modded bios that BBSC uploaded for me, all worked fine. when u launch the command BIOS.EXE -readgzfile, it starts the flash app and it checks the crc of the gz bios, checksum was correct so i typed yes and it flashed the bios with new slic 2.1, on reboot the laptop needs time to check all parameters so let it do then windows loads. my machine is modded for 6 days now and still working fine as usual 24h/24.
    slic is M09.

    M1530

Just wanted to add my success with flashing the M1530 aswell. The windows package for M1530 Bios doesn't work. Use the DOS package and everything's peachy.
