Hey everyone, I bought a brand new Dell Optiplex 7060 MT motherboard on eBay because I was having multiple bsods with the original motherboard, i traced it to a bad pci-e slot. The new motherboard is totally "new" meaning it doesn't even have an asset tag assigned in the bios. When it boots up, it goes into manufacturer mode and asks me to input an asset tag. I want to put in the correct tag for this model so when I go to the Dell website, it picks the right motherboard so I can download drivers, this way i don't have to enter the model number every time. Can anyone help me with a correct asset tag to enter?
Are you sure it's asking for an asset tag and not the service tag? The service tag is usually on the back and bottom of the case. An asset tag is an optional field that the end user can set to track their PCs.
If you login with a MS account, you can go to the devices page to lookup the serial number. Or you can attempt to boot up the old MB long enough to look it up in the BIOS.
You can find the service tag on a sticker that is usually located on the back side of the case. The service tag is often stored in the system's BIOS or UEFI settings. You can also install Dell SupportAssist software which designed to help the customers with system diagnotics and support or you can contact Dell Support to solve it.
Thank you, I ended up giving up, the sticker was missing from the back of the computer and the seller had somehow created a custom service tag. I installed Windows 11, it works fine so I left it alone lol
