I just purchase a Dell PE2900 for $500 buck on craiglist and was carious if regular SATA drive would be compatible with a SAS backpane port where the drive can be hot swap? I read that it's compatible with SATA drive but it won't be able to detect all the drive if it the SATA drive are in the same raid. Correct me if i'm wrong, not too experience in RAID or SAS drive. Thanks. This is what i have in my PE2900: Code: U8947Power Supply, 930W, Redundant ASTEC 1NR941Overpack Kit, 3R2S, Eolas Technologies Inc., English 1NC954Assembly, Cable, X4, Serial Attached Scsi, B 1KC498Assembly, Cable, FDD, 34PIN, P2900 1PC190Assembly, Cable, Power, FDD, P2900 1KN172Assembly, Floppy Drive, 1.44MB Half Height, NEC CORPORATION..., Black, Unleaded 1PR265Kit, Documentation/Compact Diskette, DOCUMENT OBJECT MODEL..., V5.1, WORLD WIDE... 1GR155Assembly, Card, PERC5I, SAS 2900 3H8799Hard Drive, 73G, Serial AttachedScsi, 3, 15K, 3.5, FJT, AL9LX 1YJ049Processor, 80556K, Xeon Woodcrest, 5110, LGA771, Burn 2 4UW728Dual In-line Memory Module, 1G 533M, 128X72, 8, 240, 2RX8 1TF102Assembly, COMPACT DISK READ WRITE/DIGITAL VIDEO DISK DRIVE COMBO..., 48X Half Height, TOSHIBA SAMSUNG STORAGE TECHNOLOGY..., BLACK... 1FG027Card, Backplane, Key, TOE, 2PORT Enterprise Systems Group 1J7551Printed Wiring Assy, Planar Server, Dell Computer Corporation, PE2900 1KU482Printed Wiring Assy, Backplane Server, Server Chassis DELL2900, 3.5SASX8 1YJ049Processor, 80556K, Xeon Woodcrest, 5110, LGA771, Burn 2 10R215Cord, Power, 15A, 125V, 10, 5-15/C13 1GG460Kit, Strain Relief, Cable, Power
