    Guys,
It seems a tonne of forum members seem to be doing a phenomenal job with bios mods.

I have a D610 (it seems RW everything doesnt even have a SLIC tab for this), a D620 (RWE shows SLIC 2.0) and a kick-about P4 (with and Award or Pheonix BIOS...one of the 2 anyway, MB is an Abit IC7-MAX3)

Can someone please advise as to what my options are with regards to BIOS modding for these 3 PC's?

    Cheers

    Dell D610 and D620

Edit by Yen: About recovery: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/13605
    *UPDATE*

This tutorial is now quite outdated thanks to the hard and dedicated work of Apokrif, AndyP, Busykid508 and probably more who have now updated Andy's tool to decompose, decrypt, mod and rebuild Dell's bioses. Thanks to their hard work the tool now handles many older Dell bioses and with the aid of a RW report can add Slic 2.1 to many of these models hopefully keeping many of them out of the landfills for a few more years!

Andy's tool is available in his Dell, Phoenix, Insyde thread Tool to Insert or Replace Slic in Dell, Phoenix Bioses

Busykid508 has made a thread dedicated to How To Use The Tool

Please keep in mind that when editing a bios, one typo or missed step and you could brick your PC
Bios Recovery for Dell Proprietary Bioses
Bios Recovery for Phoenix, Award and AMI
A special thanks for everyone that participated in this project and those who risked thousands of dollars in equipment to test these bioses, It has truly been a team effort in every sense
. As soon as I get the chance I will go back and mention specific members who helped out, so if I didn't mention you by name, sorry. I will try to get back to that

    shakeyplace,

You may include a Summarized Tutorial near XPS M1330 block in the second post of this thread. I hope many people will recognize it as very useful steps in flashing BIOS :)

Shakeyplace, the bios listed in Post #2, are those already modded to 2.1 and just needs to be installed, or do they still need to be modded?

    thanks for the great work

Ok, this is easy to follow right up until you start talking about 54h.. where the heck is 54h?

Going back to the original guide too, he talks about block 54 there... so that's offset 00000040 + 14 right? Is that the same as 54h?

54h is the hexidecimal notation for 84 bytes, I gotta go out for a few hours then I will enter some code there to show you, it is offset offset 00000050 + 4, big difference...

Ok, haven't tested activating win 7 OEM yet on my Dell 1730, but at least Itunes thinks it a different computer now :)

(oh and BTW, I don't have an OEM Vista on my 1730, an official retail one, so nothing happened with my Vista being active)
