    Hi

I have a problem with my Dell PE2900 server which I hope someone here can help me with, I've spent all day and can't seam to find a solution.

I have a Dell PE2900 Gen II server and the motherboard died on me. The server has windows server 2008 R2 installed and it was OEM activated, i.e the BIOS from dell was SLIC 2.1 and I used a dell OEM image.

I replaced the motherboard with a Dell PE2900 Gen III and now the OEM activation is not working. I searched the web and found on this site that Dell can sometimes disable certain things in the BIOS depending on the service tag, so I changed the service tag to the original motherboard and re-flashed the BIOS but still windows is not activated.

I hope someone has had a similar experience and can help / point me in the right direction as I really don't know what else I can do, other than use an activator, which I really don't what to do.

I have attached print screens both RW everything and SLIC toolkit as the output of them is not what should be expected, it's as if the marker is missing.

    worked like a charm !!

Funny thing is I did read that post but I changed the service tag ...

So what you have to do is change the ASSET TAG !!!

Also, you do not need to download anything, you can change the Asset tag from the BIOS Setup / Openmanager to "PASS:12/31" and it will enter Manufacturing Mode, then just reboot the server and all flags will be cleared.
